Antique cruet set for oil & vinegar

£
180.00
An exquisite and rare glass vessel, created as a functional container for oil and vinegar. Two smoothly merged glass chambers form a single object with harmonious symmetry. Silver necks complement the composition. Unfortunately, the lids are lost.

The design of this object has clear features of the style popular on the border of the late Victorian era and early modernism. The influence of the work of Christopher Dresser, one of the most famous British designers of the 19th century, is especially clearly traced. Although Dresser's authorship is not confirmed, the form, geometry and functionality of the object fully correspond to his design philosophy.
